On 30 March 2022, we were invited onto the set of “On n’est pas des pigeons”, the consumer programme on La Une (RTBF). An episode about our change of life and our candle holders, which you use for life.
A change of life, told on screen
The report broadcast in the programme shows our workshop, with Annette and Manu in their aprons: pouring the wax into the moulds, unmoulding the large cylinders together, and the candle holders lit in the half-light. We told the story of why we changed our lives. For Manu, it all started with a burn-out: he needed to return to a life more focused on the essentials, with hands, material and the time to do things well.
Candle holders to use for life
That is the heart of what we wanted to show. A Les Artisans Ciriers candle holder is not a disposable candle: you place a tealight in it, and once it has burned down, you replace it. The candle holder itself stays intact and can be reused endlessly. A sustainable alternative to candles that are thrown away after use.
Behind the scenes: make-up and set
Before going on air, we headed to the RTBF dressing room. Even artisans used to hot wax are not comfortable under the spotlights, and a little powder does no harm.
On set, we had brought a selection of our pieces: candle holders with yellow butterflies, with poppies, cylinders and squares, as well as our metal mould and the torch, to show how everything is made by hand.
Handmade in Brussels
What viewers saw on screen, you can find with us: each candle holder is poured, worked and finished by hand in our workshop in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre.
